West Nile virus case confirmed in Prince William Co. – WTOP

Weeks before the official start of the summer, Prince William County, Virginia, has detected the region’s first positive case of the West Nile virus.
The countys public works department found the virus sample in Woodbridge in a pool of Culex pipiens-restuans mosquitoes known for carrying West Nile on May 18.
According to a news release, public works employees will apply an insecticide throughout the area, mainly targeting adult mosquitoes.
