Paul Van Doren, co-founder of Vans shoes, dead at 90 – NBC News

Paul Van Doren, co-founder of the Vans brand, has died at age 90, the shoemaker’s parent company said Friday.
“Paul was not just an entrepreneur; he was an innovator,” VF Corporation said in a statement.

The canvas boat shoes with vulcanized rubber outsoles became part of the casual dress code for skateboarders, surfers, snowboarders and those dreaming of the beach lifestyle.
