Deepfakes are videos that glue one persons face onto anothers body, making the former look like theyre saying or doing something that they never actually dideven if its something as harmless as Tom Cruise talking to the camera and hitting a golf ball. Theyre hard to spot just from watching the video, but heres the good news: you dont actually have to watch the video to know youve encountered a deepfake.
