Virginia teen killed by exploding grenade likely sold at North Carolina antique store, ATF says – WPXI Pittsburgh

Investigators believe the grenade, thought to be harmless, was purchased in June from the Fancy Flea Antique Mall in Shallotte, North Carolina. The same vendor sold additional grenades that could contain live explosives, agents said.
The grenades were thought to be inert MK2 grenades, a style used during World War II, the agency said. At the time of sale, neither the vendor nor buyer(s) believed the grenades to be functioning or hazardous.
